Traditional Hydrocolloid Techniques

1. Liquefy Material
SuperBody Tray Material and SuperSyringe material may be liquefied together in the same water bath.  Check to make sure that the caps to the SuperBody tubes are on securely. Then place tubes cap down in water bath. Always place cap of SuperSyringe down. When using a water bath, bring material to a rolling boil and continue to boil for a full 10 minutes to insure that it is properly liquefied. When re-boiling material add an extra 2 minutes to the boiling time.

2. Store Material
SuperBody
® and SuperSyringe® materials should be placed in 150 degree (85C) storage bath for a minimum of 10 minutes before using to allow the material to cool down to the proper working temperature.

3. Temper Material
Choose the proper sized water-cooled tray and remove a tube of SuperBody
® tray material from the storage bath. Fill the tray with material using a smooth motion from beginning to end, being careful not to overlap the material. Smooth the surface of the material in the tray using a moist gloved finger.

Place the loaded tray on the bench (covered with plastic wrap) at room temperature for 5 minutes or in the tempering bath at 100 degrees to 115°F degrees (43°C to 45°C) for a minimum of 3 minutes. The material will build more body the longer it remains on the bench or in the tempering bath.

Benching Temper Technique

149°F degrees (65°C) 5 minutes

Recommended (water bath) tempering times:

SuperBody 500
Optimum - 3 minutes
Maximum - 12 minutes

SuperBody 510

4. Prepare Area
Spray Gingi-Wet Pre-Impression onto the prepared teeth and surrounding gingival tissue. Pre-Impression Sprays reduce surface tension, lubricate the area and act as superior wetting agents.

5. Take Impressions
Remove the loaded tray from the tempering bath and cover it with a dry gauze sponge to remove excess surface moisture and to insure adhesion of the tray material to the syringe material (remove plastic wrap from Bench Temper Tray).
Remove the syringe or cartridge of the SuperSyringe material from the storage bath in the traditional water conditioner. Note: Do Not Temper the syringe material.
Remove the protective cap and check for material flow by expressing a small quantity of material out of the orifice before attaching the needle. Attach the needle to the syringe by pushing and twisting into the luer lock aperture.
Completely engulf the prepared teeth with SuperSyringe material by flooding the area quickly and liberally. Use a 2.5 cc syringe for a quadrant and a 5 cc syringe for a full arch.
Immediately seat the tempered tray while the syringe material is fluid. Hold the tray in position for 5 minutes while room temperature water 75°F degrees (22°C) circulates through the tray. This forms the gel.

6. Pour Stone Model
Wash blood and saliva from the impression and shake out any excess moisture. We recommend pouring the stone model within 15 to 30 minutes.
